Promote a Transparent and Accessible Government

During Gavin’s time working for the South Carolina Governor’s Office, Gavin worked to help pass a state government reform initiative that now requires state legislators to vote on-the-record. Gavin believes this law holds government officials accountable for their votes and policy positions, and makes the voice of our State’s people stronger.

Far too often, elected officials fail to remember that the most important aspect of public service is the notion that elected leaders, by virtue of the office they occupy, work to serve and support the interest of those who elected them. The government in which these elected officials work is not theirs – it belongs to you, the people.

Gavin believes government officials should never have anything to hide from the people they are elected to serve, and it’s because of this that, when elected, Gavin will insist that the Town Council always be transparent in every aspect of its work.

Additionally, because Gavin believes our government is made stronger by an involved and informed public, Gavin will always make himself available to you, seven days a week, via phone or email.  Gavin will also host monthly “Open Door After Four” meetings where he’ll be available to meet with you in person at the Town Hall to get to know one another better, or to discuss issues you’re facing and ideas you have for the town.
